The short version: The Mobile View extension does not collect, store on our servers, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. No analytics, no trackers, no ads, no external servers — everything runs locally in your browser. (This website uses privacy-friendly analytics only after you accept the cookie banner — see the section at the end.)
This Privacy Policy explains how the “Mobile View — Mobile Simulator & Preview” browser extension (the “Extension”, “we”, “our”) handles information. The Extension is built privacy-first and works entirely on your device, with no backend service.
When you click the Extension’s toolbar icon on a regular website, it builds an on-page overlay that shows the same page inside a mobile or tablet device frame. You can switch devices, rotate, scale, synchronize scrolling/clicks/typing between the desktop page and the preview, take a screenshot, and record a short video of the preview. All of this happens locally in the active tab.
We do not collect any personal or sensitive user data. The Extension does not:
To remember your preferences, the Extension saves a small set of settings locally via the browser’s chrome.storage.local API. This never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. It includes:
It also temporarily stores, in chrome.storage.session (cleared when you close the browser), the list of tabs where the preview is open, so it can be restored after a reload. This contains tab identifiers only — no page content or URLs.
You can erase all of this at any time by removing the Extension.
The Extension requests only what it needs for its single purpose. None of these are used to gather data about you.

Inject the preview overlay into the active tab.
To display the page inside a mobile frame, remove framing restrictions — the X-Frame-Options header and the Content-Security-Policy header (which can carry frame-ancestors framing rules) — and set a mobile User-Agent, only for the preview frame of the active tab, scoped per tab and removed when you close the preview. No requests are blocked, recorded, or sent anywhere.

Show a short message when a page cannot be previewed (e.g. chrome:// pages).
Used only by the optional screen-recording feature to record the current tab’s video when you start a recording. The video is processed locally and downloaded to your device — never uploaded or sent anywhere.
Runs a hidden offscreen document that performs the recording and encodes the video in the background. All processing stays on your device.
The Extension can be used on any website you choose to preview, so it needs access to the site you are previewing — solely to render the preview, never to read or send your data. This access is optional: it is not granted at install, but requested at runtime the first time you open a preview, so you stay in control.
The Extension does not contact any server operated by us and includes no analytics, tracking SDKs, or remotely-loaded code. It bundles a small open-source library for video encoding, which runs entirely on your device and transmits nothing. The only network traffic is your browser loading the website you chose to preview — exactly as it would without the Extension.
The screenshot feature captures the visible preview, crops it locally, and saves the image to your device as a download. Screenshots are never uploaded or transmitted.
The screen recording feature records the current browser tab using Chrome’s tabCapture API — there is no system “share your screen” prompt, and only the active tab is captured. The video is encoded locally (you can choose MP4 or WebM) and saved straight to your device as a file. Recordings are never uploaded, sent to us, or transmitted to any third party.
We do not sell, rent, or share any user data, because we do not collect any.
The Extension is a general-purpose preview tool, is not directed to children, and collects no personal information from anyone.
Since no data is collected or transmitted, there is no remote store that could be breached. Your settings stay on your own device under your browser’s protection.
If functionality changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above.
This Extension is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple Inc., Google LLC, Samsung, or Xiaomi. iPhone, iPad, Pixel, Galaxy and other names are trademarks of their respective owners, used only to describe the device frames the Extension simulates.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand basic, aggregated traffic: how many people visit, which pages they open, and roughly where visitors come from.
